New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, and Cornell Cooperative Extension-Westchester County invite you to attend an informational meeting on potential control and management strategies for the invasive aquatic plant Hydrilla in the Croton River.
 
The aquatic invasive plant Hydrilla verticillata was discovered in the Croton River in October 2013 and later found in Croton Bay during a site survey in 2014.  This survey also revealed that Hydrilla is well-established in the Croton River and Reservoir.  Hydrilla grows and spreads rapidly in areas where it has become established, often resulting in considerable economic and ecological impacts.  While Hydrilla remains in the Croton River and Bay, it threatens habitats in the Hudson River and its tributaries.  Fortunately, the current results of the survey conducted in 2015 indicate that Hydrilla has not yet spread outside of Croton.  Come learn about potential strategies to contain, control, and combat Hydrilla in Croton River habitats.
