A Message from Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi

May 23, 2020

Hello everyone this is Linda Puglisi, Supervisor of the Town of Cortlandt. Hoping everyone is well and staying safe during this still difficult time. I’m pleased to tell everyone that due to the numbers of COVID-19 cases going down in our state, county, region, and community that there is some progress on re-opening various areas in phases. If you go to the State’s New York Forward website, you’ll learn more about these openings. For example, in phase one: construction projects, retail at curbside, some beaches and county parks and manufacturing companies. There are four phases with entertainment areas such as movie theaters and sports arenas with the fans in the fourth phase. So, there is progress thanks to everyone wearing masks, social distancing and staying home whenever possible.

As you know, this is Memorial Day weekend when we normally would have parades, large gatherings and ceremonies to honor the brave men and women, who have sacrificed so dearly for us. They have defended our great Country and our freedoms, we thank them all. This year, though we can’t hold those large ceremonies, we pay tribute to those over the years and our Military Armed Forces, who have put their Country first over their own lives. We will never forget them and always honor them. We have a Memorial Day tribute page on our website and we are airing the very special ceremony we held last year. Also, we are so proud that the Veterans’ banners were put up by the Town on Albany Post Road by the VA hospital and nursing home. This is an ongoing project and if you want more information, please go to our website or call my office.

I’m so very proud to be part of a community that always honors our Veterans and especially on Memorial Day. However, not just this day but every day we thank them and those serving us today. They are all heroes. In closing, I want to say Cortlandt is not just a place, it’s Home. Enjoy your weekend and please stay safe I love our community, our Veterans and all of you, thank you so very much.
