Update from Supervisor Linda Puglisi

August 5, 2020  - Tropical Storm Isaias recovery efforts

5:00pm

Town staff is currently working together with Con Edison crews town wide to remove trees and open roads. We are expecting Con Edison to then follow up with line crews after trees are cleared to restore power.  I was on a call this morning with Con Ed and unfortunately they do not have an estimate on restoration times for the Town.  We have approximately 5,500 residents without power at this time.  This is a third of the Town.   We also have many residents without internet or phone service.  We have opened a shelter at the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center on West Brook Drive and it will be open 24 hours until it is no longer needed.  We will also be posting road closure information on the Town’s website.

We urge residents to continue to treat all downed wires as live wires and report power outages by contacting Con Edison at 1-800-75CONED.

Please visit the Town website at www.townofcortlandt.com for additional updates or call (914) 737-0047 to report an issue to the Highway Department. Thank you and be safe.
