Westchester County's Increase of its Sales Tax Rate to 8.375%
"Even though we don't like to see any new tax increases we supported this 1% additional County sales tax increase to assist Westchester County, as well as, our community. We will be losing a tremendous amount of tax revenue once Indian Point, owned by Entergy, closes their two nuclear plants in 2020 and 2021. The majority of this additional sales tax will go into a fund to offset our loss of revenue.
The projections from the County Executive’s office are for the Town of Cortlandt to receive $771,740. from August – December 2019 and $1,673,654. from January – December 2020.
