Pearl Harbor Remembrance
Release Date: December 07, 2019
Seventy-eight years ago today Japanese fighter planes attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, destroying much of our Pacific Fleet and killing more than 2,400 Americans.
“This day shall live in infamy” proclaimed President Franklin D. Roosevelt after the attack. A Congressional law named this tragic day of 1941 a “National Remembrance Day”.
That is what we do every year in the Town of Cortlandt with our Villages of Croton-on-Hudson and Buchanan. We will never forget those brave men and women who sacrificed so dearly seventy-eight years ago in order that we have our freedoms today in our great country.
