Arbor Day
Today we celebrate Arbor Day!
Arbor Day is a day set aside throughout the world to raise awareness of trees and the important role that they play in our environment. Not only do trees make the Town of Cortlandt an even more beautiful place, they also remove pollution from the atmosphere, are proven to lessen daily stress, keep our drinking water clean, help reduce climate change, and much more! Councilman Frank Farrell, CAC Vice Chair Paul Buckout and CAC Liasion Chris Kehoe planted a London Plane Tree at the Cortlandt Waterfront Park.
Did you know? Arbor Day is celebrated on different dates around the world, depending on local seasons, temperature and the most suitable planting season. As we celebrate Arbor Day today, consider planting a tree of your own, it’s the best time to do so!
