Supervisor Becker has been notified by the New York State Police of repeated theft of mail and subsequent check forging. This occurs when residents place OUTGOING mail in their mailboxes, and raise the flag, notifying the post office of the presence of mail.  Unfortunately, this also alerts criminals of the possible presence of checks that they can steal.

To prevent mail theft and fraud, please do not place outgoing mail in personal mailboxes; rather bring them to the post office or nearest official U.S. postal box.
