Winter Storm Kenan
Winter Storm Kenan
January 28, 2022
The Department of Environmental Services workers have been preparing for the upcoming Winter Storm Kenan. We expect the storm to begin this evening after 11 PM and extend for most of the day tomorrow with accumulations of up to 6” or more. The forecast remains fluid. Currently we are in the forecast for accumulations of 4 to 8 inches and snowfall will continue through early tomorrow afternoon. This storm is expected to bring moderate to strong wind gusts so tree damage and power losses may be an issue during this storm. If you experience a loss of power please contact Con Edison at 1-800-75-coned to report your outage.
As a reminder parking is prohibited along town roads during winter months. We also remind you that hydrants near your property must be kept clear of snow and vehicles. Town water staff will be dispatched after highway operations are complete to clear fire hydrants after a major snow storm but this may take several days to clear out over 1,800 hydrants in the Town of Cortlandt. The area fire department need to be able to access the hydrant immediately upon arrival and we appreciate our residents help in clearing fire hydrants near their property. Every second counts when a major fire occurs. The life you save could be your own. If you have an emergency, please call 911.
