Cortlandt Fiber Arts: Vicki Wolfe
The newly opened exhibition, Cortlandt Fiber Arts: A Contemporary Survey, explores contemporary trends in fiber-based works. Fiber is a material for memories. When working with natural fibers the material retains impressions of its growth and formation while adapting to and remembering the shaping by the artist. Vicki Wolfe further imbues her fibers with memories by recording in her tapestry that which is most precious, her children’s names and her cat.
“I have been hooking under the tutelage of Marilyn Bottjer for many years. This 4' x 6' tapestry was inspired by the famous Casswell Quilt, into which I have sewn my children's names and my cat!” – Vicki Wolfe
To see Vicki’s work and great fiber works by other artists, Cortlandt Fiber Arts: A Contemporary Survey is on view at Town Hall though Feb. 1, 2024.
