Artists Choose Artists Exhibition: John Cox and Alison Cuomo
Now on view at Town Hall the exhibition Cortlandt Artists Choose Artists explores the influence of an artist’s network on their studio practice. For the exhibition Cortlandt artist, John Cox, selected Alison Cuomo, a New York City artist, as his partner. Their shared aesthetic sensibility and similarities in practice establish a dialogue between their works.
“Alison reached out to me in 2022 with an invitation to join an artist collective that was bringing artists together on-line with the goal of creating real life opportunities. We've developed a great friendship over the past two years that has brought a wonderful comradery into my working process. The friendship we share has brought a new perspective to my work that we have been able to carry into our projects with the Fluid Media art group. We share an aesthetic sensibility that makes working together a joy.” – John Cox
“When John asked me if I would like to show with him, I was moved, and immediately and with great pleasure, agreed. I initially ran across his work on Instagram and felt a strong connection to it. Our work shares an acceptance of accidents, a love of the immediacy of handling wet paint, and the power of a gesture. I think seeing our work together makes them both richer, because of their similarities and their differences.” – Alison Cuomo
