Currently on view at Town Hall the exhibition Cortlandt Artists Choose Artists explores the influence of an artist’s network on their studio practice. Within a community artists form dense networks. For this exhibition Cortlandt based artists, Susan Zuckerman and Maxine Young, paired with other artists to submit works and then paired up to create a joint submission of their own. Their shared interest in depicting the natural world creates an automatic dialogue between their works.

“I am in awe of Nature’s beauty and diversity. Nature is a source of inspiration for my art quilts. Maxine Young shares her love of nature as reflected in her photography. We both find the structure of trees and woods beautiful, even when trees are dormant.” – Susan Zuckerman

“I have been taking photos for over 50 years, often in nature and having started in Africa where I was a Peace Corps volunteer.  Living in the Hudson Valley I have met so many talented artists, including Susan Zuckerman, whose quilts often depict nature scenes.” – Maxine Young
