Update from Supervisor Puglisi regarding the storms

Release Date: March 08, 2018

A Message to Cortlandt

Re: The Two Storms (Riley and Quinn)

From Supervisor Linda Puglisi

(3/8/18)

Please contact Con Edison at 1-800-75 Con Ed or (1-800-752-6633) to report your outages.  It’s very important.  The Town is also reporting on your behalf.  Our town crews have been out working around the clock and will continue to be out doing tree work once Con Ed turns off the powerOnly Con Ed can do that work.  It’s called restoration crews from Con Ed.

I have been on the Con Ed conference calls with all of the other Supervisors and Mayors.  Everyone says the same thing – “tremendous disappointment with the lack of planning by Con Edison and with the restoration efforts.”

As of today, 3/8/18, our town has 2,200 homes still without power; yesterday morning we had 700 homes.  The numbers increased due to the snowstorm that left us with 16” of heavy, wet snow that brought down more power lines.

Our shelter which is also a charging station at the Community Center off Westbrook Drive will remain open 24/7.

Please look out for wires on the ground; they may be live Con Ed power lines.  Also, watch out for hanging tree branches. Town crews will take care of them, but only when Con Edison untangles the wires and turns off the power so we can do our job.  It has been very frustrating that Con Edison has not planned properly for these two major storms.

I will be stating our issues, concerns and criticisms at the County Center in White Plains on Friday at a forum that our County Executive is holding to hear our complaints.

We will continue to do everything we can do to help you and your families.

                                                                                    Thank you!

                                                                                    Supervisor Linda Puglisi
