ASSISTANT TO THE DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL SERVICES (CODE ENFORCEMENT) – DEPARTMENT OF TECHNICAL SERVICES

Town of Cortlandt - FT               

Assist the Director of D.O.T.S with the activities of the Department of Technical Services (Code Enforcement) This position is responsible for day to day operations and office administration of the Code Enforcement Division.  Duties include the daily operations and work flow of the Code Enforcement Office including but not limited to the following:

  • Interfaces with the general public by explaining the building permit application process;
  • Receives permit applications from residents, contractors and agents, reviewing same for completeness and enters information into tracking database;
  • Responds to requests for information on permit applications procedures, status of permit applications, parcel zoning and/or status of buildings on a parcel;
  • Schedules permit inspections and responds to applicant inquiries regarding results of inspection;
  • Receives complaints from the public, sets-up information in database tracking system, performs inspections and/or assigns to an inspector, and tracks issue to closure;
  • This position also supervises employees in the area of Animal Control and Parking Enforcement.  May also supervise office/clerical and technical support staff.

Experience and Training:  This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience where the primary functions were administrative or managerial.   Code enforcement official basic training program as outlined in Title 19 of New York Codes, Rules and Regulations (NYCRR), Part 1208 – Minimum Standards for Code Enforcement Training in the State of New York, Section 1208-3.2(c), Minimum Standards for Code Enforcement Training in the State of New York, Section 1208-3.2(c) preferred.    Salary commensurate with experience.  Deadline for application is Friday, August 6, 2021.  E-mail resume to C.
