What We have Accomplished in 2021

Release Date: December 09, 2021

What We have Accomplished in 2021

  1. COVID 19 Pandemic:  abided by all CDC and health department requirements and implemented them for our town government for health and safety. We also posted this information for our community.

  1. Continued to keep town taxes low and town debt very low and at the same time completed many small and large projects. I am very pleased to leave the town in excellent financial shape.

  1. Continued to control over development and have a rational growth plan as we have had for 30 years.

  1. At the same time did have growth – opening of Meadowbrook Commons on Rte. 6 , also, more restaurants, stores and businesses on Rte. 6.

  1. Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan and Verplanck and Montrose committees and studies supported for the North Cortlandt Committee, as well.

  1. At our town pool we added a new, very attractive bathhouse and snackbar, as well as, a new basketball court and renovated our tennis courts.

  1. Our Events continued:  Cortlandt Family Fun Day, outdoor concerts, Winter Wonderland and many more.

  1. We held many Veteran ceremonies and always supported our Veterans.

  1. Continued to assist our local businesses, our seniors and our youth. All very important in our community.

  1. Recreation had many activities:  sports, youth center, senior center, and other programs.  Go to our website for more information (www.townofcortlandt.com).

  1. We held a Frontline plaque dedication in the town hall courtyard to honor all those who keep us safe, especially during the pandemic.

  1. Ongoing seasonal beautification of various areas in the town including banners on our major corridors.

  1. Celebrated the beginning of our 30-year Anniversary of our lovely town hall – a symbol of our pride in Cortlandt. I am proud to have been the first Supervisor in our town hall and worked on the renovations.

  1. Along with our partners in the Village of Buchanan and Hendrick Hudson School District and others worked to guide our communities through the permanent closure of Indian Point nuclear plants (April 2021) and will continue to monitor the decommissioning by Holtec.

  1. Kohl’s intersection completed with NYS DOT on Rte. 6.

  1. In 2021, we paved roads and spent $2 million spread throughout the town.

  1. Expanded our military banners appreciation program from Rte. 9A to Oregon Road – showing pride for our Veterans.

  1. And many others.

“I have been very proud to be Cortlandt Supervisor for these 30 years and along with our Town Board completed these projects.”

All my best,

Supervisor Linda D. Puglisi
