Budding Artist: Victoria Rocco
Continuing the celebration of the local student artists, grades: K-12, from Budding Artists, currently on view at Town Hall through May 4th. Today’s featured artist is Victoria Rocco.
Victoria’s works are exercises in pattern and repetition. In nature we find pattern and repetition used by organisms large and small as building blocks. As in nature Victoria defines a shape or makes a mark, adding, subtracting, tweaking as needed, endlessly repeating, and stopped only by the edges of her paper. Achieving perfect patterns and repetitions often read visually as artificial or mechanical. Victoria’s work avoids this fate and closely aligns itself with the natural world with all the subtle variations in her marks.
“Victoria is an 8th grader at Copper Beach Middle School who loves art. These 2 pieces were done last year by her. She likes different types of art but isn't sure if she'll like painting as she hasn't had to try that yet.” - Teresa Rocco
