Iconic Cortlandt: History (Deputy Supervisor James Creighton)

Release Date: October 26, 2023

In its final two weeks at Town Hall the exhibition, Iconic Cortlandt, aims to capture the essence of Cortlandt from the unique perspective of the Town’s employees. Steeped in history, the Town of Cortlandt affords enthusiasts a chance to stand at the strategic crossing, Kings Ferry, in Verplanck where George Washington’s army crossed the Hudson in 1781 on the march to Yorktown, Virginia or survey remnants of Cortlandt industrial past. Deputy Supervisor Jim Creighton captures a small slice of Cortlandt’s rich history with his photographs, History, 2022 and Quarry Ruins, 2018.

Jim has been volunteering on various Town boards and committees since 1997 and was elected to the Town Council in 2017.  He currently serves on the Town Board as Deputy Supervisor.  Jim has lived in the Town for 28 years and enjoys volunteering and spending time hiking, swimming, sailing, rowing, and relaxing on and around our beautiful lakes and the majestic Hudson River with his wife, Melissa, and their six children.
