Cortlandt Fiber Arts: Susan Zuckerman
Currently on view Cortlandt Fiber Arts: A Contemporary Survey, explores contemporary trends in fiber-based works. Artists draw inspiration for a variety of sources. Some delight in exploring the technical capacities of their chosen mediums and others draw from external sources, such as the landscape. Susan Zuckerman draws on both to fashion her works. In Birches, 2020 Susan employs fabric pattern, considered shaping, and detailed thread work to capture her awe of the natural world in her quilted work. The result, a Neo-Impressionist landscape reminiscent of Gustav Klimt’s Beech Forest, which invites deliberate contemplation from the viewer.
“I have worked and played with fabric from an early age, learning from family and friends, classes, books, exhibits, social media, and challenges. Nature is an immense source of inspiration, constantly changing, awe inspiring, extremely diverse.” – Susan Zuckerman
To view all of Susan’s exhibited works stop by Town Hall! Cortlandt Fiber Arts: A Contemporary Survey is on view though Feb. 1, 2024.
