Here’s what’s happening in September at the Youth Center!

Hours of Operation

For Youth in Grades 6th – 12th

  • Monday – Thursday: 3:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Friday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Saturday: 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM

 

For Youth in Grades 1st – 5th

  • Sunday: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM with Parent/Adult Supervision

All programs below are for Youth in Grades 6th – 12th unless otherwise noted.

Open Gym at the Community Center- open to all Croton, Hendrick Hudson and Lakeland middle and high school students who are town residents. Tuesdays and Wednesdays 7 PM - 9 PM and Fridays 8:30 PM - 10:30 PM. (Closed September 12 & 21). At the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center, 29 Westbrook Drive, Cortlandt Manor.

The Cortlandt YC Cancer Stompers are walking & fundraising for the Strides Against Breast Cancer 5 Mile Walk on Sunday, October 21. If you are interested in joining the team or making a donation please click here. They will also be raffling off a 5’ Teddy Bear, named Hope, to help surpass their fundraising goal of $1,000! 1 ticket = $5; 5 tickets = $20. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket please email Katherine at katherines@townofcortlandt.com or stop by the YC when we’re open.

Operation Snowflake is back! If your child is looking for work and is interested in shoveling snow for Senior Citizens this fall then this program is just what their looking for. For more information click here. Please note the application is due by Tuesday, October 9th.

 

September 9-15

School’s closed but the Youth Center is open from 1 PM - 8:30 PM Today, Tuesday September 11 with Dazzling Diva Spa Day happening at 4:30 PM.

DJ Night! Our Back to School BBQ is on Friday, September 14 from 7 PM – 10 PM. Pre-registration is required by Thursday by calling the YC at 736.0498.

Family Fun Day Continues and is happening in the YC’s backyard on Saturday, September 15. At 6:00 PM families are welcome to join us for Music by Dirty Stay Out (bring lawn chairs), Inflatable Rides, Face Painting, Balloon Animals and our Local Eateries Food Court. Then at 7:30 PM Fireworks!

 

September 16-22

Monday, September 17 Open Gym at Hendrick Hudson High School is back! 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM for Hen-Hud District Residents Only. Must be a registered participant of the YC.

Wednesday, September 19 school’s closed but the YC is open from 1 PM - 8:30 PM.

Friday Night Open Mic- Friday September 21. Registration at 7 PM, performances at 8 PM. 

 

September 23-29

Art Explorers Begins! For grades 1-3, this course lets kids experiment with materials and techniques including papier mache, collage, painting and drawing. Mondays for 8 sessions from 4 PM - 5:15 PM.  $195 with ID / $200 without ID/ $240 nonresident, register by September 21. Course # 300-1F.

Art Quest Begins! For grades 3-6, this course will offer crazy art exercises which will help free up the artisit in each youth. Acrylic & watercolor painting, drawing from still life, collage and more 3D adventures will be covered. Mondays for 8 sessions from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM. $225 with ID/$230 without ID/ $276 nonresident, register by September 21. Course # 301-1F.

Creative Cooking Class Begins! For grades 1 – 4, this course teaches youth how to cook and bake in an enthusiastic, safe and educational kitchen class. We’ll integrate literature, songs, themes, science, math and many other skills while expanding our taste palate and being introduced to some new ingredients and food combinations. Not suggested for chefs with food allergies. Wednesdays for 5 sessions; $80 with ID/$85 with ID/ $102 nonresident. Register by September 21. Creative Cooking 1 (grades 1 & 2) from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM; Course # 619-1F & Creative Cooking 2 (grades 3 & 4) from 6:45 PM – 7:45 PM; Course # 619-2F

Karaoke Dokey Nite- Friday September 28 at 7 PM

Broadway All Stars Begins! For grades 1 – 6, this workshop is for everyone from the beginning student to the seasoned performer. Experience the fun of theatrical games, audition and having a role in a live production. Taught b a professional actress/director, youth will enjoy nine working classes and two performances of the Holiday productions! Saturdays from 11 AM – 12:30 PM (no class 11/24) Performances on Saturday & Sunday, December 8 & 9 at 1:30 PM. $185 with ID / $190 without ID / $228 nonresident. Course # 620-1F; register by September 24. Limited spaces available.

Basketball Pointers, Saturdays through October 27 at 7 PM. Head on over to the YC and join our staff as they help you improve your basketball skills and prepare for winter tryouts on our outdoor court.
