Cortlandt People, Places, Memories Artist of the Week: Denise Knauer
Now on view at Town Hall, the Cortlandt: People, Places, Memories exhibition celebrates life in the Town of Cortlandt and provides a window into the informal and personal histories of the Town’s residents and businesses. All exhibition objects were kindly lent by Town residents and local business owners. For the exhibition Denise Knauer created a photo collage of her backyard bounty, an inspiring glimpse into local residential gardens.
“It is amazing what we can grow in the Town of Cortlandt. Our 2 Asian Pear trees produced over 100 pounds of fruit in the fall of 2023. Our inoculated Shiitake Mushroom logs will produce mushrooms for about 3 years. This is our 4th batch. They will generate several pounds of mushrooms at certain times of the year depending on the variety. Did you know the Gingko Biloba tree turns a solid yellow in the fall? You can find several at the Cortlandt Town Center!” – Denise Knauer
Cortlandt: People, Places, Memories is on view from August 5th – November 7th at Town Hall. To inquire about this or other exhibition opportunities, please email: Eren Johnson, art@townofcortlandt.com
