Now in its final weeks, Flora & Fauna, on view at Town Hall is a celebration of the natural world and explores the sublime beauty of nature from the microscopic to the panoramic. Through the landscape Andrew Banko captures the abstract and often indescribable nature of the sublime. Deeply meditative, Evening on Hudson and Winter Gorge are images that render the essence of the landscape which allow the viewer to experience the sublime through a physical or emotional response to his images.

Andrew Banko is an assistant professor at the United States Military Academy in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. His photography hobby is inspired by his experimental research on fluid dynamics. He is interested in how optics and camera sensor design can be used both to quantitatively interrogate the physical world and to render artistic expression.
