A Message from the Desk of Supervisor Richard H. Becker, MD
Special Notice -This afternoon there was a two alarm fire at the Thalle concrete plant in Montrose. The first responding firehouses included Montrose, Buchanan, Verplanck, and Croton. When the fire went to second alarm, mutual aid was received from Peekskill, Briarcliff, Millwood, Yorktown, as well as the County. The fire was completely extinguished using foam provided by Westchester County’s Special Operations Unit and the VA Hazmat Unit. Other first responding agencies included Cortlandt-Peekskill Paramedics, and Cortlandt and Peekskill’s rehab units were on scene. Multiple other fire departments were on standby at the Montrose FD Headquarters. There is an ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire. Fortunately, there were no injuries. We are grateful to our first responding firefighters who responded so quickly and professionally to this serious event on a winter’s day. We thank all of our emergency responders for keeping our community safe.
