Flora & Fauna Artist of the Week: Diana Kogos
Extended through May 2nd, Flora & Fauna, on view at Town Hall is a celebration of the natural world and explores the sublime beauty of nature from the microscopic to the panoramic. Diana Kogos captures her surroundings with a macro lens allowing the viewer to experience nature on a very intimate scale. The resulting images are drenched in color delighting and exciting the eye.
"As an abstract artist, wildlife, and macro photographer, I am inspired by patterns in nature.
Repetition of lines and shapes in feathers, bird plumages, spider webs, compound eyes, scales of butterfly wings; symmetries, meanders, and fractals found in landscapes, plants, mollusk shells, and coral formations – these natural elements are fascinating to find and capture. They are an inspiration for my paintings, which transform flat surfaces into three-dimensional spaces through an interplay of lines, values, and shapes." – Diana Kogos
