A Notice from Waste Innovations
A Notice from Waste Innovations:
On Tuesday, while the Peekskill waste-to-energy facility was finishing a scheduled maintenance outage, the facility was impacted by an electrical transient condition. The electrical transient issue took the plant offline however, we are able to make some operational adjustments to ensure continuous service for Westchester County.
We are expecting that beginning this evening, we will bring two of the combustion boilers online and process the waste with our standard strict emission controls. We will not be able to convert that waste into energy at this point, and the steam will be vented through the roof much like our scheduled turbine outages. With these temporary operational modifications, the steam venting will result in a noticeable steam plume and the pressure release, although diverted through our industrial silencers, could cause an audible noise level for some residents. We expect the steam venting to be necessary throughout the weekend and into the early part of next week.
Please be assured that while we understand this may cause some temporary disturbances, we are working to prioritize uninterrupted waste services. Our team is working diligently to resolve the electrical issue, and we are committed to sending regular updates on the completion of our repairs to restore energy generation. We appreciate your understanding as we address this situation. Should you have any questions or require further details, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we will keep you updated on our progress.
