Wallace Pond was first mapped in the late 19th Century and was used as an ice pond by the Wallace Ice Pond Company. Surrounding land was owned by the Horton Ice Cream Company. In the late 1950’s the land was purchased and redeveloped into a residential subdivision, aptly named Westchester Lake Subdivision.
Westchester Lake Dam is an approximately 134 foot long gravity dam constructed of stone masonry with a concrete cap with a maximum height of 10-ft. The dam is owned privately by the homeowner’s association. The pond, is owned by the Town of Cortlandt.
